James C. Rogers

James C. Rogers "Jim", age 63, passed away due to natural causes Sunday, March 23, 2014, in Campbell, NY.

He was the son of Jesse C. Rogers and D. Elizabeth Burley Rogers. He was born in Corning, NY, and graduated from Campbell Central High School.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1970-1972 with a tour of duty in Okinawa during the Vietnam War.

While stationed in San Diego, CA, he married Bonnie Rogers who survives.

Jim was a lifetime member of the Robert N. Austin American Legion Post 1279 in Campbell.

He was founder and curator of the Veteran's War Museum and facilitated the procurement of AH1 Cobra Attack Helicopter, both located at Post 1279.

He also served many years at Post 1279 as Historian.

Jim is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Maggie and James Youngman; grandchildren: Olivia and Skylar of Corning; brothers: Donald of Binghamton, NY, Samuel (Carol) of Savona, NY, Gary and Bryan, both of Corning, NY, and Timothy (Pam) of Painted Post, NY; sister-in-law, Carrie of Savona, NY; and his very dear Aunt Bea of Dundee, NY; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Larry and Percy Rogers.

Jim was a well-known and respected self-employed painter and paper hanger by trade and took great pride in sharing his craftsmanship through Rogers Painting.

His talents will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Calling hours will be Thursday, April 3 from 11-1 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning, NY.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 pmon Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Bath National Cemetery.
