John Reidy

On August 31st 2018, John Edward "Jack" Reidy was welcomed home to eternal rest to join his father John Thomas Reidy and his mother Helen Cowley Reidy.

Jack was proud of his educational background having graduated from Elmira Catholic High School, Canisius College, and Elmira College with his Master's Degree in Education. He was a man of wisdom with a passion for knowledge, who left a promising career with RCA to pursue a lifelong commitment to education.

After 30 + years of teaching hundreds of children and mentoring young educators, he retired to pursue other interests. In retirement, he continued his service to others, substitute teaching and tutoring young students. Jack also provided guidance and counseling to incarcerated men, hoping to guide them to the same success and happiness he knew.

He was a kind and respected man and he will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife Marcia Ann (Ward) Reidy, three sons, Sean, Matt (Catherine), and Dennis (Sarah) Reidy, and seven grandchildren, Jordan, Kendall, Connor, Ethan, Aaron, John, and Emma Grace. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, James B. and Kathleen Carrier, and nieces and nephews, Cathleen, Kevin, Stephanie, Peter, and Susanne Carrier.

Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Sharon Ward, Robert and Alice Ward, Larry and Sherry Ward, Mary and Daniel Murphy, and Joyce and Mark Reiter, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
