Philomena L. Chirico(1922 - 2014)

Philomena L. Chirico, age 92, of West Pulteney Street in Corning passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

She was cared for at home by her loving husband and children, especially Ralph Jr. and Marie, and Tracy Kelly, and also many caring and wonderful people from Gentiva, Care First, and Dr. Christopher Fucito.

Philomena was born January 30, 1922 in Yonkers, NY to Raffaelle and Maria (DiProperzio) DiTore.

On February 2, 1946 she married Ralph Chirico in Yonkers at the Church of Immaculate Conception. Philomena was retired from Dr. Cesari, Dr. Curran, and Dr. Dolan's oral surgery office, where she worked as office manager and receptionist for many years.

Philomena was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved family gatherings, cooking Italian dinners, square dancing, traveling with her husband and walking.

She is predeceased by her husband Ralph of 66 years, who passed away on December 27, 2012. Also predeceased by three brothers, Ralph DiTore, Thomas (Kay) DiTore, and Carmine (Sarah) DiTore; one sister, Elizabeth DiTore.

Her survivors include two sisters, Mary (Joe) Marshall of New Jersey and Pam Louise Fleck of California; three daughters, Anne (Myron) Crispino, Marie (Mark Gee) Chirico, and Elizabeth (David) Brown all of Corning; two sons, Ralph (Elaine Repoza) Chirico, Jr. of Corning and Larry (Nancy) Chirico of Roselle, IL; six grandchildren, Matthew (Rachel) Crispino of Steamboat Springs, CO, Nicholas Crispino of Corning, Sarah Chirico and David Chirico of Bath, Kyle Chirico and Troy Chirico of Roselle, IL; one great granddaughter, Tawnie Townsend of Corning; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 17, 2014 at St. Vincent de Paul, 222 Dodge Avenue in Corning with Father Lewis Brown officiating.

A graveside service will immediately follow the funeral Mass at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.

The family invites all those attending the services to join them for lunch at the American Legion on the corner of River Road and Caton Road.

Memorial contributions may be made in Philomena's name to the , 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.
