Phyllis M. Cook, age 84, of Painted Post, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Corning Hospital. She was born on June 18, 1930 in Candor, the daughter of Ralph and Clara (Smith) Wise. She married Harold E. Cook in 1956 at Grace United Methodist Church.
Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, and aunt. She was a member of the South Corning United Methodist Church, a volunteer at the LPGA and the Painted Post Food Pantry, and she was active in the American Field Service (AFS). She liked planting flowers and traveling. Phyllis was a longtime fan of the Cleveland Browns, and NASCAR. She was employed at Corning, Inc. and later at Weyerhaeuser until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Harold E. Cook; son, Todd Cook of Painted Post; and niece, Cassandra Wise of Florida.
Phyllis was predeceased by her brother, Richard Wise, and by nephews, Ken and Richard Wise, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at the South Corning United Methodist Church, 12 Caton Road in Corning. A celebration of Phyllis' life will follow there at 11:00 am with the Reverend Patrick Holder officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
