Corning NY | Robert A. Marsh, age 71, of Corning, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 at home. He was born on January 14, 1943 in Richford, NY, the son of the late Harold (Blanche) Marsh and the late Lillian (Nicholas) Aloi.
He married Andrea Miller on March 7, 1964 at the First Presbyterian Church in Corning.
Bob retired from Corning, Inc in 2000 following 24 years of service and he was a member of the Local 1000.
He was a star athlete in high school receiving many awards, was an avid sports fan, and excelled at mathematics.
Bob built the family house in Big Flats and was especially proud of his heated sidewalks at his Corning house which gained him local notoriety.
He loved the many Christmases spent with his family, enjoyed bowling and was a Hall of Famer at Crystal Lanes.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea, children, Kristina Mortensen of Corning, Robert Marsh of Corning, and Julie (Jeffrey) Dick of Elmira, grandchildren, Ryan (Beth) Dick, Timothy Mortensen, Brendon Dick, Brett (Amelia Kimble) Dick, Katarina Mortensen, and Mitchell Mortensen, great grandsons, Damien and Gavin Dick, brothers, Donald (Helen) Marsh and Jerald (Sara) Marsh, sister, Bonnie McLaud, sister-in-law, Maryann Settle, sister-in-law, Sheila (Dennis) Cook, brothers-in-law, Rick (Joannie) Miller and Christopher (Mary Kay) Miller, and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Richard Settle.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Colonial Square Senior Village, 110 Creekside Drive, Painted Post, on Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
A celebration of Bob's life will follow there at 4:00 pm.
