Robert L. Hanrahan(1932 - 2014)

Robert L. Hanrahan, age 82, of Addison, NY passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Corning Hospital. Bob was born February 6, 1932 in Rathbone, NY. He was the son of Lawrence and Thelma (Farrand) Hanrahan. He married MaryLou Stewart on October 27, 1956 in St. Catherine's Church, Addison, NY.

Bob served in combat with the Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home he began a 33 year career with the US Dept. Of Agriculture, as an Inspector. Upon his retirement in 1985 he helped his son, Bruce with the local garbage pickup business and organized all the rural routes. Bob was an avid hunter, loved to bowl in Bowling Leagues and enjoyed playing Euchre. He was also devoted to his farm, cattle and gardening of his vegetables. He could also be found sitting under the Kapok tree on the hill. He loved his faithful companion poodles: Mobo, Elizabeth, and deceased (Mrs. Bailey).

He is survived by his wife of 57 years: MaryLou (Stewart) Hanrahan ;two daughters: Sabrina (Ron) Amato of Easton, PA, Melanie Hanrahan of Addison, NY; son: Bruce Hanrahan of Addison, NY; four grandchildren: Zachary And Dylan Simmons of Fort Myers, FL, twins Ireland and Sophia Amato of Easton , PA; sister-in-law: Beulah Stewart of Addison, NY; sister-in-law: Frances (Dan) Reppert of Avoca, NY; along with special friends: Brian Arnold, William McCarthy, and Charles Root.

He was predeceased by his infant son: Stephen Michael Hanrahan; sister: Helen Hanrahan-Barrett; brother-in-law: Elwin Stewart; uncles: Stephen, and Bernard Hanrahan; aunts: Marguerite Hanrahan, Helen Coblenzer and Anna Stalker, and good friends: Lyle Slocum and Kenneth Doud.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at St. Catherine's of Seina Church, 51 Maple Street, Addison, NY 14801 with Father Patrick Connor officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Addison immediately following.
