Stephen (Trout) A. Martuscello, Sr. age 60, of Houghton Circle, Corning, NY, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Corning Hospital, Corning, NY and is now without pain and resting in the arms of Jesus.
Born on October 1, 1953 in Corning, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Marilyn (House) Martuscello. Steve was a graduate of Corning East High school, class of 1972, later attending and graduating from Corning Community College and SUNY Brockport, class of 1976.
Stephen married Mary L. Koskan on May 6, 1989 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plano, TX.
After returning to Corning, NY, he continued working for Corning Inc., retiring in 2008.
Stephen was baptized at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Corning, and later raised his family at Sts. Isidore and Maria Torribia Parish in Addison, NY. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Stephen thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, often taking hunting and fishing trips, camping, attending Bills' games, and relaxing at the beach with his children.
Steve was an avid sports enthusiast, specifically basketball, football and lacrosse.
His greatest joy came from his family and supporting their many activities. He also enjoyed his short time as a fun grandfather ,teasing and joking with his grandkids. He was a true family man who took great pride in his children's and grandchildren's achievements.
He was a great example of perseverance and will be missed by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years: Mary Martuscello of Corning, NY; two stepchildren: Margaret (Maynard) Black of Addison, NY and Philip (Kristan) Caputo; children: Stephen (Kayla Kitchin) Jr., Joseph, Michael, Marie, Celine and James Martuscello all of Corning; 9 Grandchildren; NY; brothers: David (Laureen) Martuscello of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Mike (Lee) Martuscello of Carrollton, TX; sister: Phyllis (Tim) Bates of Hammondsport, NY; step-sisters: Frances (Martin) Allen of Lawrenceville, PA, Velma and (John) Pazzaglia of Columbia Crossroads, PA and Step-Brothers Tom (Becky) Speciale, Steve (Terri) Speciale both of Corning, NY, Sam (Becky) Speciale of Fayetteville, NC; Aunt: Agnes (Paul) King of Painted Post, NY; Uncle: Pete (Mary) Martuscello of Corning, NY and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 1:00-3:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Corning, NY. Burial will take place in the family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning, NY.
