Winston W. Phelps Obituary
Nelson PA | Winston W. Phelps, 93, of Nelson, Pa., died February 18, 2014, at The Gatehouse Inpatient Hospice Unit.
He was born December 6, 1920, in Farmington Township, PA, the son of Frank and Melissa (Persing-Cass) Phelps. He married Alberta C. Lockhart Phelps on November 11, 1944. Alberta predeceased him in 1992.
Winston was a glass mechanic for Corning Glass Works retiring with 73 years active and retired service.
He was a former Mayor for the village of Riverside, a volunteer Fireman for Corning Glass Works and Chief of Brigade, a member of the Masonic Lodge and Moose Lodge.
Winston is survived by a son, Ken (Linda) Phelps of Denver NC, and daughter, Carol (Byron) Paris of Coopers Plains; special friend, Doris Healy and her children, Pam Lacky and Yvonne Olander; grandchildren, Greg (Jennifer) Phelps and son, Grant, Stacy (Cliff) Glasl and children, Megan and Tyler, Jeannette (Jeff) Knapp and son, Nathan, Lisa Knapp, Lee (Amber) Paris; step brothers, James and Edward Phelps and step sister, Beatrice Stratton; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife and grandson, Vern Paris.
The family will receive friends at Acly-Stover Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2014, from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Kathy Greene officiating.
Burial will be in Chapel Knoll Cemetery, Painted Post, NY.
