Ruth Ann (Quattrene) Eames Obituary
Ruth Ann Quattrene Eames, 82, of Painted Post, NY, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at home surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Ruthie was born in Corning on November 16, 1931, the youngest daughter of Mina (Kennedy) and Hector Quattrene.

She attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School and graduated from Northside High School in 1949.

Ruthie spent most of her working years as a typesetter at The Leader newspaper in Corning, NY. She worked through many positions during those 40 years as the newspaper changed and updated.

"Retirement" took her in a new direction, the job she enjoyed the most, she became a full-time grandmother and babysitter for her grand-daughters.

Ruth Ann was a communicant of All Saints Parish and a member of the Resurrection Choir.

She is survived by her husband Edward "Eddie" Eames. They would have celebrated 62 years of marriage this June.

She is survived by her daughters Tracey (Kevin) Knapp of Painted Post; Cathy (Eric) Sutton of Horseheads; grand-daughters Amanda (Tony) McGinnis of Horseheads; Caitlin Knowles of Williamsport, PA; and Juliana Knapp of Painted Post. She is also survived by sisters Betty (Lou) Wainwright of Corning; Anne Baker of Painted Post; brother Fran (Bonnie) Quattrene of Fernandina Beach, FL; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Helen Martin, Marie Quattrene and Mary Dann, and brothers Jack and Thomas Quattrene.

Ruthie was the heart of the family. Visitors never gathered in her living room, it was always around the kitchen table. She loved to "cook for a crowd." She hosted a family breakfast every Sunday morning and all were welcome.

Ruthie will be remembered fondly by all those fortunate to know her and missed by many.

As per her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral. A memorial Mass will be held at a later time at the convenience of her family.

The family requests that any memorial donations in Ruth's name be made to the .
