Luther Allen Breuilly Obituary
Corning | Luther Allen Breuilly, age 97, of Corning, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Corning Hospital. He was born on December 15, 1916 in Blossburg, PA, the ninth of twelve children of John and Margaret (Moody) Breuilly.
He married Betty Bostwick on February 7, 1946 in Corning. Luther graduated from Northside High School in 1937. He was a star quarterback on the football team; he played centerfield on the baseball team and guard on the basketball team.
Luther was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a medic in the First Armored Division in the North African, Sicilian and Italian Theaters during WWII.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, retired from Ken Breuilly Plumbing in 1976, and he enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty, daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and William Habelt of Baldwinsville, NY; granddaughter, Erin Breuilly Habelt of Snyder, NY; sister, Mary Louise Stever of Corning; and several nieces and nephews. Luther was predeceased by ten siblings.
Family and friends may call at Grace United Methodist Church, 191 Bridge Street, Corning, on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A celebration of Luther's life will follow calling hours there at 10:00 am with the Reverend Gil Mitchell officiating. Burial will take place at Hope Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
