Meryle D.W. Adler Obituary
East Corning | Meryle D.W. Adler, age 79, of East Corning died Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center of Elmira, NY surrounded by his loving family. Meryle was born on April 18, 1935 in Elgin, ND. He was the son of the late Harry and Magdelena (Holwagner) Adler. He married Carole (Burlingame) Adler on February 22, 1958 at the Addison Methodist Church. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together.
Meryle was an avid woodworker, hunter, fisherman and gardener. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Meryle donated his time to the Junior Achievement program.
Meryle served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He graduated from Corning Community College and received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Tech. He retired from Corning Inc., as a Research Engineer in 1996, after 35 years of service.
Meryle was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Corning and the American Legion, John P. Eaton Post, Corning.
He is survived by his wife: Carole Adler, two daughters: Kimberly (David) Arnold, and Kelly (Kevin) Kamas, one son, Kevin (Shanna) Adler, brother, Orville (Bobette) Adler, four grandchildren: Will and Betsy Kamas and Cory and Chloe Adler, nephews, Curtis and Mark Adler, and sister-in-law, Nancy (William) McCarthy.
Besides his parents, Meryle was predeceased by his brother, Stanford Adler in 1933.
Calling hours will be Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Carpenter's Funeral Home, LLC, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning, NY.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 149 W. William St., Corning, NY with Pastor William Lutz officiating.
Burial will be in Addison Rural Cemetery.
