R. Nell Tompkins Obituary
Bath | R. Nell Tompkins went home to be with her savior on August 6, 2014.
She was born August 10, 1946 in Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan. Nell worked for A&P and P&C Groceries for over 26 years as the produce manager. She was a loving wife, mother, O'ma and Friend.
She was pre-deceased by her father and mother Hylen and Ada Guerin, 3 brothers Charles, Harley and Benjamin, one sister, Bonnie Guerin, and first husband, John D. Gerych.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert D. Tompkins, Daughter Verna Horbey (Robert), step-son Timothy Tompkins (Rebecca Shoemaker), Granddaughters, Jade Annabel and Gabriella Tompkins, Sisters Ellie (Al) Crouch and Susie (Robert) Thomas, sisters-in-law Margie, Darlene and Dorothy Guerin, Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Joyce Tompkins. Many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Nell loved to read her Bible telling others about Jesus and his love. She liked visiting the shut-ins and feeding the wild birds, going Kayaking and canoeing and spending time in the mountains. She loved to have people stop in and visit and was always fixing someone something to eat and baking. She had a special love for her granddaughters.
Friends may call Monday, August 11th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Savona Federated Church, 20 Church Street in Savona. A Memorial Service will follow at 1 p.m. with a luncheon to be held afterward at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Care First Hospice or a charity on one's choice. Arrangements are by the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport.
