Gerald C. Beebe

1938 - 2015

Savona | Gerald C. Beebe, age 77, of Savona, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born on January 7, 1938 in Corning, the son of the late Harold and the late Helen (Moore) Beebe. He married Janet Runyan on October 15, 2005 at the Tyrone Fire Department.
Gerry loved his family and enjoyed helping others, especially kids.
He was a 28 year member of the Savona Fire Department where he served as Fire Police Chief, and he was a 20 plus year member of the East Campbell Fire Department where he served as Chief and Assistant Chief. Gerry retired from Corning Inc. in 1990. He was a veteran of the US Army, and spent his spare time fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Beebe of Savona; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Charity Beebe of Savona; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ken Shillingford of Oneida, PA; granddaughters, Rachel Walters, Jacie Beebe, and Kassidy Shillingford; sister, Esther Hall of Horseheads; brother, Roger Beebe of Lawrenceville; special nephew, Rex (Judy) Beebe of Savona; and several additional nieces and nephews.
Gerry was predeceased by his siblings, Carolyn Quagliana, Eddie Beebe, Douglas Beebe and Normalou Rowe.
Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A firefighter's service will be held there at 8:00 pm followed by the celebration of Gerry's life. Burial will be at Seamans Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
