Joyce Hulbert Obituary
Joyce was born in North Hornell on Aug. 28, 1931, the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Margeson) Rude. She was raised in Troupsburg and was a graduate of Troupsburg Central School.
On Mar. 16, 1947, she and Ronald K. Hulbert were married in Troupsburg. Ron preceded her in death on June 19, 2006.
Joyce attended adult education classes at Steuben-Allegany BOCES where she became trained as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She began her long nursing career at Bethesda Community Hospital in North Hornell and moved to St. James Mercy Hospital following the closing of Bethesda. She was a former member of the Troupsburg Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Joyce enjoyed knitting and crocheting and treasured time spent with her large family.
Surviving are her daughters, Connie Lowrey of Troupsburg, Cynthia (Ronald) Button of Troupsburg, Anne (David) Collson of Bath, Pamela (Marty) Cook of Troupsburg, Linda Burrous of Hubert, NC, Maureen (Stephen) Binder of Hornell and Colleen (Jack) Button of Troupsburg, her sons, Thomas (Barbara) Hulbert, Ronald (Lea) Hulbert and Henry Hulbert, all of Troupsburg, 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, her sister, Kathy (Bob) Rogers of Troupsburg and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, Joyce was predeceased by her sister Pauline Freberg.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be there on Thursday at 11 AM with Rev. Trevor Price officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Troupsburg.
Memorials are requested for Care First Hospice.
