1933 – 2013
Don Dickinson, a resident of Newhall, CA passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 after a long illness. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953 to 1955. An L.A. County Fireman
for 25 years, he worked the latter part of that time as the leader of a mountain fire crew.
Don was the founder of The Family Outreach Program, a program offering a wide range of services to families who had a family member being held in LA County Jails. Additionally, he had been a Chaplain for The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a position where he was named Volunteer-Of-The-Year in 2005. Don was also awarded the Point of Light Award in 2007 by President George W. Bush.
Anyone who knew Don well understood the main goal in his life was to lead others to Christ. He viewed any meeting as an opportunity to share his deep personal faith in our Lord.
Don leaves his wife of 57 years, Sally; three children: Steven Dickinson, Randall Dickinson, and Kathryn Odom; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church, 22833 Copper Hill Dr, Santa Clarita, CA 91350.
