Frances Maxine Lyons

1926 – 2013

Longtime Santa Clarita, CA resident Frances Maxine Lyons passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013. She was born April 15, 1926 in San Fernando, CA. She attended elementary school in San Fernando and graduated from Oxnard High School in 1944. She married Donovan Lyons of Newhall, CA on April 1, 1944. They had three children: Mike, David, and Sally.

Frances worked as a telephone operator in Newhall at the Pacific Bell Telephone Company in the 1950's and early 1960's. She then went to work for the Bermite Powder Company in Saugus as a Document Control Officer until the late 1960's. Frances ended her working career as the Head of Documents for Ocean Technology, Inc., an aerospace company in Burbank, CA. She was active locally in the formation of the Santa Clarita Methodist Church and the Republican Women's Club.

Frances is survived by her children: Michael (Cheryl) of Saugus, CA; David (Gail) of Gold Bar, WA; Sally Shaughnessy of Newhall, CA. Known as Grandma Frankie, she leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her sister Oretta McMillen of Wilsonvile, OR; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donovan Lyons; her sisters: Hazel (Murphy) Baldwin and Aileen (Murphy) Lyons.

A Memorial Service for Frances will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church, 22883 Copper Hill Dr., Santa Clarita, CA 91350.
