Mildred "Millie" Kacmar, of Monessen, PA and Valencia, CA passed away at the age of 85 on Friday, November 30, 2012 with her family at her side, lovingly holding her hands.
Millie is remembered for being "always there" for her family and friends. Throughout her life, her mind and heart remained open to the world around her. She was equally comfortable in the presence of a 4 year old as well as a 94 year old. Her laughter was infectious and filled a room, a letter/email, a phone conversation, or a heart with warmth and good will.
Her expressions of love were always generous and often tasty and beautiful. Birthday celebrations were unthinkable without her Texas sheet cake or Millie's Cupcake Surprises. Weddings and new babies were celebrated with a gift of a beautiful crocheted afghan, which warmed their bodies as her love warmed their hearts.
As a young woman during WWII, she had a brief stint working for the FBI in Washington, DC, but missed her family and returned home. She then took a position as a blueprint draftsman, a career that included few women at the time. She married Andrew Kacmar and raised three sons- Rick, Ray and Bob. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of a league for many years in Monessen, PA.
She was pre-deceased by husband Andy, and sister Faye Baron. She is survived by her sons: Richard (Rick), Raymond (Ray) and Robert (Bob) Kacmar; sister Esther Campana of PA; daughter-in-laws: Anna (Daniels), Charlotte, Crystal and Deborah; grandchildren: Army Captain Keith Kacmar and his wife Allison, Kelly Kacmar and her husband Kevin Bond, Jeremy Brandt and his wife Aimee, and Jesse and J'aime Brandt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Millie will be laid to rest with her beloved Andrew in Pennsylvania.
Memorial Mass to be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 23233 Lyons Ave., Newhall, CA.
