1923 – 2013
Robert Armacher passed away at his home with his beloved wife by his side on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Bob was born in Minnesota on October 14, 1923 to Idella and Christian Amacher. He grew up in New York where he met, fell madly in love with, and married Eleanor (Pat) Leonard on December 28, 1942, the day before he was inducted into the military. He proudly served his country in World War II
in the Army Air Corp stationed in the Pacific. After the service, he and his bride moved to California, eventually settling in Sun Valley where they raised their two children.
Bob worked for Pacific Telephone & Telegraph for 37 years, then enjoyed his retirement years living in Friendly Valley where he made lifelong friendships, played many rounds of golf, and traveled the world.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Pat; son Robert (Buckley) Armacher (Laura); daughter Victoria Pierce (Dan); grandchildren: Jessica McSilvers, Ian (Christina), Sean (Brittney) and Cody Armacher, and Jenna and Tyler Stiman; great-grandchildren: Kayla McSilvers, Tyler Amason, and Corbin Armacher.
A memorial service in celebration of his life is being planned for October at the Friendly Valley Community Church, 19246 Ave of the Oaks, Newhall, CA. 91321. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's honor to any veteran's organization.
