Robert Sumner Tucker went peacefully to be with his Lord on the 5th of November 2012. Bob was a strong Christian and a loving example to his family and his many friends. Bob was born on January 10, 1940 to Sumner and Doris Tucker in Los Angeles, CA.
He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Joyce; daughters, Karen Marlowe and Jen Scruggs; sons, Jim and John, and 16 grandchildren. After graduating from Ventura High School, he enlisted with the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a carrier and supervisor for 30 years. He met Joyce while delivering mail and put a ring on her finger one year later.
They lived in Valencia for many years, then lived in Costa Mesa for 13 years, and in 2005 Bob fulfilled his dream of becoming a part-time Hawaii resident. Along the way he played tennis for Glendale College and was 1 of 3 athletes to receive the lifetime game pass. He later got his teaching credential from Cal State L.A.
His hobbies included coaching sports, family trips, dog walking and USC football. Above all Bob loved God and taught himself to play the auto-harp, leading worship in his church.
Move over angels there's a new strummer in town! Funeral Service will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 17th at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, 3800 Fairview Street, Santa Ana, CA 92704.
