1925 – 2014

Esther Moir was born December 13, 1925 as Esther Spielmann in Shakopee, MN, on the outskirts of Minneapolis. While she attended Catholic school, her father drove a beer wagon and her mother stayed home, raising Esther and her two older sisters.

As the Second World War broke out, she moved to California and worked in the defense industry. After the war, she took a job with the California Highway Patrol in Newhall as a secretary, where she met and fell in love with her husband Bob Moir, a CHP Officer and Navy veteran. They settled in San Fernando where, in 1957, her son Jeff was born. She and the family enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the western United States. After Bob's passing, she took various secretarial jobs with the Wm. S. Hart and Los Angeles School Districts, retiring in the mid-80's. She enjoyed activities as a member of the Glendale Moose club, including serving meals at the LA Mission. She also excelled as a ballroom dancer.

A 46 year resident of Newhall, she lived comfortably in her Friendly Valley home until March, 2014, passing at the age of 88 from COPD. Esther brightened the world of all those who knew her, with her quick with and welcoming smile. Now rejoined with her husband Bob, she continues the dance in God's pavilion.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Eternal Valley, 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321.
