1926 – 2013

Glenn Tasto Fancy, 87, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 after a long and adventurous sojourn on earth. Born in Hanover, PA on March 29, 1926 and raised on the family farm, Glenn moved to California in his youth where he was educated, married and raised his family. He graduated from North Hollywood High school.

A veteran of WWII, Glenn served in the Navy stationed in the Pacific where he learned electronic skills that would enhance his future career with Pacific Telephone. He retired from ATT with over thirty years of service. Always having a love of animals, Glenn raised racing homing pigeons, show dogs, and thoroughbred race horses and hunters. Combining his hobbies with profession, Glenn traveled the world and all 50 states as a professional AKC all-breed dog judge.

Awarded the Boy Scout's Eagle Scout award as a teen, community service was a way of life as he actively participated in Shrine, Masonic, and Elk lodges. Glenn was the recipient of the Theodore N. Vail award for heroism when he risked his life to save those involved in a fiery car crash. An avid athlete, Glenn was a collegiate level gymnast and body building competitor at Muscle Beach.

During his retirement years Glenn enjoyed serving on community committees in San Diego where he resided for 14 years before moving to Santa Clarita. He volunteered at HMN hospital and SHS track meets, attended the Santa Clarita Senior Center, and enjoyed gardening. Over the years he had acquired envious stamp and coin collections.

Glenn has called the community of Santa Clarita home for the past twelve years. He also resided in La Canada-Flintridge, San Diego, and throughout the San Fernando Valley.

He leaves his wife of over 60 years, Jean; three children: Jeff (Ellen), Steven (Ginger), and Cindy Kramer (Scott); six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mountainview and the patient drivers of the SCV senior bus service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glenn's name to the SCV Senior Center: www.scv-seniorcenter.org/.?
