Sherman Elmore Lacy, age 78, passed away at his home in Friendly Valley, Newhall, CA after a battle with lung cancer. He was born and raised in Boonville, AR. He moved to California in 1955 and worked at GM in Van Nuys, CA for 37 years. After his retirement he started a home repair service at which he worked for another 10 years. He was very accomplished at auto body repair and painting.
Sherman loved playing golf with his buddies in Friendly Valley and fishing trips with his sons and grandsons, as well as, motorhome trips to the desert with family and friends to ride motorcycles. He truly cherished those evenings around a roaring campfire.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ellie Lacy; children: Michael (Jill) Lacey, Karen Lacy, Jan (Dale) Ferguson, Shelly Paul, and John (Linda) Lacy; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; his three sisters: Louise Johnston, Norma (Wayne) Treadway, and Frances Mikles, all of Ft. Smith, AR.
Sherman will be missed by many, but will always be with us in our hearts and memories.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Friendly Valley Community Church, 19246 Avenue of the Oaks, Newhall CA 91321.
