On Friday, May 9, 2014 Kenneth E. Laux lost his 2 year battle with cancer. At the age of 80 he passed peacefully in his sleep at home in Newhall, CA. Kenneth was born August 17, 1933 to John and Goldie Laux in Macon County, IL. The family, which included five children, lived in Chicago then moved to Stockton, CA.
In 1950 Ken joined the U.S. Air Force and while serving in the Korean War was stationed in Hawaii. He was discharged in 1953.
Ken's family had moved back east, settling in Indianapolis, IN and he lived with them there. He met his future wife, C. Sue Cobb, at her parent's restaurant where she was the short order cook who would make him lunch. Ken and Sue were married in Indianapolis on May 7, 1955 and they celebrated their 59th Anniversary 2 days before he passed away.
Ken and Sue moved to California in 1959, settling into a new home in Canoga Park with their 2 small children. They eventually added 2 more children to their family.
Ken worked as a draftsman and engineer. He worked on hydraulic systems for projects within the Space Program. He was proud to go to Florida and visit the Kennedy Space Center. Employed as a Senior Design Engineer at Hydraulic Research in the Industrial Center in Valencia, CA for over 20 years, Ken retired in 1995.
He was an avid billiard player and spent years participating in a local Pool League. He had a Billiard Room in his home, which ended up being his Trophy Room. Often friends would come over to play and he would teach younger players the strategies of the games of Nine Ball and 1Pocket Pool. After retiring, Ken enjoyed repairing TVs, computers, and Laptops.
Ken is survived by his wife, Sue; his son, Jack, his daughter, Katherine Lynn Clayborn; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Wayne Laux and his daughter, Lorrie Ann Reppe.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the family home, 24750 Airville Ave, Newhall CA 91321. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
