Lois H. Miller

DALTON — Lois H. Miller, of Dalton, died Wednesday morning, March 19, 2014, at Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the widow of Robert Miller, who died in 2006. The couple was married for more than 60 years.

Born in Olyphant, she was a daughter of Elwood Charles Demming and Helen Deats Demming. She lived in Dalton for more than 62 years and was a faithful member of the Waverly Community Church, where she was the director of the Sunday school, preschool and children's ministries. She taught at the Catholic Youth Center and, prior to retirement, worked many years as the bookkeeper for Miller Excavating and Fairlawn Cemetery Association in Dalton.

Surviving are two sons, Robert and his wife, Sue, Lansdale, and Roger and his wife, Ginger, Dalton; three grandchildren, Brian, Bobby and Amy Lee Miller; three great-grandchildren, Kristen Pearl Miller, Hailey Quinn Stegbauer and Sophia Rae Stegbauer; one brother, Arlin Demming, Montdale; two sisters, Sharon Webb and Linda Magnot, both of Montdale; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald, who died in 1997; a brother, Elwood Demming; and a sister, Shirley Herbert.

A funeral service was held at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. James Cohen, pastor of Waverly Community Church. Interment followed in Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton.
