PLAINS TWP. — Mrs. Ruth Ann Kinney, 79, a resident of Plains Township, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at her home following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Kinney was born in Plains Township, a daughter of the late Charles and Grace Morgan Mann. She graduated from Plains Memorial High School and traveled with her husband, the late Staff Sgt. Gerald J. Kinney, U.S. Air Force, in various locations. Sgt Kinney also had previous service in the U.S. Army.

She returned to Plains Township and was employed by several businesses before retiring as a seamstress with Plains Blouse Co. several years ago.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, William H. Mann; and sister, Betty Jane Benner.

Surviving are her children, Bruce G. Kinney and his wife, Nancy, Wyoming; Susan A. Kuc and Sgt. David J. Kinney, both of Plains Township; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc., a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Daniel Miller, pastor of Back Mountain Harvest Assembly, will officiate. Private interment will be in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton, at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to attend the visitation 3 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and that memorial donations be made to Back Mountain Harvest Assembly.
