Valya (Pace) Vacula Obituary

EXETER — Mrs. Valya (Pace) Vacula, 91, of Exeter, passed away on Wednesday evening, Sept. 5, 2018, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, surrounded by her family.

To all the "Angels" of the Sacred Heart, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for the love, care and compassion you gave to our Mom. God Bless you all!

Val was the daughter of the late Tony and Rose Saccio Pace.

She was a presser for 42 years in the local dress factories and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

After retiring, she was employed at the McDonald's in Wyoming, where she loved buying extra toys for the kids for their kids' meals.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, Andrew (Sooner), in 2001; a brother, James Pace; and a sister, Olga Jurosky.

Surviving are her daughter, Rosemary Gitkos, and her husband, Ron, of Exeter; and a son, Thomas, and his wife, Mary, of Chapin, S.C.; granddaughters, Keri Gitkos Vermac and her husband, Caz, of Exeter, Joyell Gitkos Campbell, of Exeter, and Tracie Vacula and wife Michelle Toman, of Plains Township; along with many nieces and nephews and, of course, her puppy, Bella.

We would like to thank Dr. Mauer Biscotti, whom mom loved to make raviolis and gnocchies for, nurse Joanne, and his staff for always being so kind to Mom.

We would also like to send a special "Thank You" to all Mom's family and friends who came to visit her. It meant a lot to all of us.

Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Barbara Parish in St. Cecilia's Church, Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, with the Rev. Daniel Schwebs, O.S.J., and the Rev. James Alco as celebrants.
