CLARKS SUMMIT — Edwin George Herring, 90, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday morning, May 24, 2014, in the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was the husband of the late Lorraine Friedman Herring, who died in 1994.
Born in Queens, New York, he was a son of the late Edwin and Margaret Engel Herring. He was a graduate of John Adams High School in Queens. He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in combat in World War II.
Prior to retirement, he was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.
Ed loved animals and sports. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are two sons, Roy and his wife, Eileen, Clarks Summit, and William and his wife, June, Long Island, New York; two brothers, James and his wife, Charlotte, and William and his wife, Maryanne, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the staff at the VNA Hospice Unit in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Clarks Summit Senior Living and the Abington Manor for all of their compassionate care.
The funeral service and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
