Ruby Leger Knight
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at a 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Ruby Knight, age 81, the former Ruby Leger, who passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.
Mrs. Knight was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. She retired with Heymann's Department Store in the houseware department after twenty nine years of service. She was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Mrs. Knight was an avid bourré player and enjoyed monthly trips to the casino, either on the bus or with her family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Robert "Bobby" Ray Knight of Carencro and Randy Knight and his wife, Cindy, of Lafayette; one daughter, Rhonda Credeur and her husband, Jeff, of Broussard; four sisters, Georgia Courville and her husband, Ben, of Catahoula, Tina Frederick and her husband, Johnny, of Catahoula, Theresa Pearce and her husband, Wayne, of Moss Bluff, and Kathleen Hymes and her husband, Paul, of Moss Bluff; one brother in law, Joseph Trahan; three grandchildren, Jamie Knight and his wife, Lindsay, Zachary Knight and his wife, Amanda, and Dylan Lantz, all of Lafayette; two great grandchildren, Mckenzie May Knight and Jadon Michael Knight; two step grandchildren, Channing Credeur and his companion, Kristen Duhon, of Maurice, and Deidra Credeur and her companion, Kip Meaux, of Carencro; and three step great grandchildren, Carson Credeur and Cooper Credeur of Maurice and Kogan Meaux of Carencro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ray Knight; her parents, Conrad J. Leger and the former Clemanse Smith; and one sister, Anna Joyce Trahan.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until service time on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Knight, Zachary Knight, Jadon Knight, Dylan Lantz, Channing Credeur, Chris Nicko and Doug Nicko.
