Tommy "Tom" James Benoit

LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Mr. Tommy "Tom" James Benoit, 44, who passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.

Reverend Father Allen Breaux, Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, will officiate.

Mr. Benoit was born Thursday, July 7, 1966 and was a native of Lafayette. Tom was a 1984 graduate of Northside High School and graduated from Acadiana Technical College with a degree in computer programming. A great handyman, he was a fun-loving and all around good-hearted person who enjoyed making people laugh.

Tom was an LSU and Saints football fan who loved the outdoors and enjoyed being with family and friends. Most of all, Tom loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them. He will be deeply missed.

Tom is survived by his three children, daughters Crysta Benoit of Rayne and Amber Benoit of Duson and his son, Kensie Benoit of Carencro; his parents Ernest Benoit, Jr. and his wife, Eldine of Scott and Mary Nell Romero and her companion, Louis Jackson of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Blaiyd Michael, Kaiyd Michael and Bailee Hollier; five siblings, his three sisters Debbie Sadreddini of Lafayette, Mona Hebert of Scott and Tessie Menard of Church Point and his two brothers, Tim Benoit of Broussard and Jason Jackson of Rayne; and six step-siblings, Douglas Hebert of Arnauldville, Darryl Hebert of Mire, Durand Hebert of Broussard, Dayton Hebert of Duson, Debbie Leblanc of Breaux Bridge and Dianna Estilette of Cankton.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Benoit, Sr. of Lafayette and his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Dedier Romero of Youngsville.

The family requests that visiting hours at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette be observed on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and resume Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

A rosary will be recited by Mrs. Eldine Benoit, Tom's stepmother, on Monday evening, February 7, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fountain Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Leighton Benoit, Travis Hebert, David Menard, Tony Hebert, Sean Davis and Donny Benoit.

Honorary Bearers are Tim Benoit and Jason Jackson.
