Jean Benson Brou
DONALDSONVILLE - Jean Benson Brou, 89, died on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. She is a native of Syracuse, New York and was a previous resident of Hohen Solms, Donaldsonville, and Slidell. She married her husband Warren Brou, Sr. on August 31, 1946. Her husband passed away in 1996. She worked in the Civil Division of Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office for 12 years. In her sparetime Jean enjoyed painting, bird watching, reading, and playing scrabble. When she retired she enjoyed travelling with her husband, Warren.
Jean is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Ronald Mills, Linda Delaune and Bob Callahan, and Noel and Johnny Venezia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Joyce Brou, and Warren and Cynthia Brou; nine grandchildren, Christine Mills Smith, M.D., Jeanette Mills, Heather Leonard, Camille Delaune, Breanne Peyton, Jared Peyton, Katie Fossier, Hollie Brou, and Jamie Lee; and eight great-grandchildren, Derra Leonard, Courtney Leonard, David Leonard, III, Brooke Smith, Jessica Smith, Isabella Lee, Drew Fossier, and Dane Fossier.
Preceded in death by her parents, John R. Benson Sr. and Bertha Mae Graves Benson, two sisters, Marian Mereweather of Syracuse, NY, and Doris J. Price of Ticonderoga, NY; and brother, John R. Benson, Jr. of Pensacola, FL.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to Methodist Children's Home, P.O. Box 929, Ruston, La 71273-0929.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Donaldsonville. Interment to follow in church cemetery. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville.
