Lena Edmond (April 2, 1947 - March 10, 2015) Lafayette - Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:00AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Lafayette for Lena Edmond who passed away March 10, 2015. Lena "Sue" Edmond was born on April 2, 1947, the first of six siblings to her parents, Wallace "Pop" Edmond and Silversa Rubin Edmond. Sue was a lifelong resident of Lafayette, LA. She became a part of the workforce at 14 years old and was a dedicated employee at Holiday Inn and its affiliates for over 20 years. Sue was a loving and caring person and "literally the life of the party." Her home was a "home" to many. Her door was always open. Relatives or not, all were welcomed and no one was ever turned away. Sue will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her caring heart, and her independently strong spirit. She has been the backbone and the glue that held the family together. She was our true angel here on Earth and now will be greatly missed. Mourning her death and cherishing her memories are her loving fiancé; Arthur Kinchen, her three daughters; Ladanza Edmond (Rapheal Livings), Vera Johnson (Mannie Perroult), and Silversia Edmond (Harold Davis) all of Lafayette, her two brothers; John Edmond (Loleatha Edmond) of Hampton, Georgia, and Rufus Edmond (Patsy Edmond) of Baton Rouge, her two sisters; Michealine Edmond (Joe Hamilton) and Louella Edmond (Mike Arceneaux) both of Lafayette, LA., her close friend/cousin; Annette Hebert, 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. On March 10, 2015, the Lord embraced Sue and carried her home. She was preceded in death by Raoul and Elina Rubin, William and Marie Cadet Edmond, her maternal and paternal grandparents; her parents; Wallace Edmond and Silversia Rubin Edmond, uncle; Alexandria and aunt; Anna Edmond, two brothers; William Edmond and Hilton Lee Edmond, two nephews; Gary Jacobs, Jr. and Ashley "T-Ash" Edmond, and her great grandson; Jamel Jones. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 7:00AM till 10:30AM at Kinchen Funeral Home in Lafayette. Kinchen Funeral Home, Inc., 1011 North Saint Antoine Street, Lafayette LA., is in charge of arrangements.
