Mabel "Mae Mae" Broussard LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Mabel Ruth Guidry Broussard, 97, who passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at her residence in Duson. Visitation will be observed on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and resumes, Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 8:30 am until the time of services, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette. A rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 6:30 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette. Interment will follow in St. Basil Catholic Church Cemetery in Duson. Father Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in Duson, will officiate. Mabel was born June 13, 1917 in Crowley and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. She was a parishioner of St. Basil Catholic Church in Judice. Mabel was known to everyone as "Mae Mae". She enjoyed her life to the fullest and never gave up, no matter how hard it became. During her 97 years, Mae Mae never met a stranger. Her love of trail rides gave her the opportunity to touch many lives. One of the joys of her life was taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mae Mae loved gardening and yard work as hobbies. As the matriarch of the family, she will be greatly missed. Mae Mae is survived by two daughters, Earline Alleman of Duson and Jenita Trahan of Judice; one son, Lannie "Sonny" Stelly and his wife, Dee of Lafayette; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her former husband and the father of her three children, Ambrose Stelly; her husband, Lovely Broussard; her lifelong friend, Eddie Miller; two sons-in-law, Curtis Alleman and Kenneth Trahan and one great grandchild, Lindsey Alleman. The family wishes to thank granddaughter, Shelia Broussard, neighbors, Debbie Broussard and Emma Constantine, CNAs from Loving Care/IBC and hospice staff of Community Hospice Care for the compassionate care given to Mabel and her family over the years and in the recent months. Marilyn Myra Grasso Buford LAFAYETTE - Visitation will be held at Delhomme Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 12:00pm until 2:30pm followed by a funeral Mass, which will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 3:00pm, for Marilyn Myra Grasso Buford, 70, who died on May 30, 2015. Marilyn was a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. She attended Our Lady of Fatima school and graduated from Lafayette High School. She married Frederick Dean Buford of St. Martinville in 1965. She attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana and completed her bachelor degree in nursing and went on to complete her Master's degree in nursing. She worked at Lafayette General Medical Center for 27 years. She then went on to become a nursing instructor at ULL, from which she retired in 2014. She was an avid supporter of ULL athletics, following the death of her husband she established the Freddie Buford Fund, raising money for and establishing a new study hall for student athletes. As a faculty member, she served on the Ragin Cajun athletic committee. She was also active in the community teaching catechism and serving as a Eucharistic minister. She served for many years on the board of Camp Bon Cour, which supports children with heart anomalies. She was known by those fortunate enough to be a part of her life as a kind and loving person. She exemplified God's unconditional love in her love for her children, and she will be missed dearly by all those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Michael and Mary Anne Grasso; by her husband of 33 years, Frederick Dean Buford and her sister, JoAnne Varisco. She is survived by her sisters, Nancy Duco and her brother in law Lanny Duco of Pierre Part, LA and Eileen Duke of Bossier City, LA; son, Michael Joseph Buford and his wife, Sally Buford of Lafayette, LA; daughter Dr. Amy Anne Buford of Houston, TX; son, Frederick Dean Buford of Lafayette, LA, and son, Mark Buford of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren Ashley, Michael, and Nicholas Buford of Lafayette, Lauren and Brennan Buford of Carencro, LA and Ava Buford of Lafayette, and one great grandchild, Olivia Robicheaux of Hammond, LA. Brent L. Clements Lafayette - Funeral services for Brent Lovell Clements, 69, will be held Wednesday June 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM in David Funeral Home, with Father Bill Ruskoski associate Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday June 2, 2015 from 10:00AM until 9:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM, and will continue Wednesday from 8:00AM until services. A native of Morgan city and a resident of Youngsville Brent passed away Sunday May 31, 2015 at his residence in Youngsville. Brent was a graduate of Morgan City High School Class of 1964, then went on to complete his education at Nicholas State University. He was retired from Linear Controls , and was also employed by Aramco. Brent was a Veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam he was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His hobbies included going to the casino, watching old cowboy and war movies but what he enjoyed most was calling all of his family each and every day. Survivors include his wife Glenda Ghirardi Clements of Youngsville; two daughters Lisa Poirrier of New Iberia, and Carla Joubert of Lafayette; his son Brent S. Clements of Youngsville; sisters Kim and her husband Edward Gils, Cindy and her husband Mike Willis,and Trudy and her husband Butch Brinlee. Brent was also survived by six grandchildren, Laikyn Joubert, Layton Joubert, Kailyn LeBlanc, Chandler LeBlanc, Isabella Poirrier and Breece Clements and 2 great grandchildren, Rowen Gomez and Remi Gomez. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Melissa Clements; his parents Kemp and Stella Courtney Clements; and one sister June Hardgenx. Serving as pallbearers will be Brent S. Elife Broussard Corbello LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette for Elife Broussard Corbello, 80, who died on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lector will be Dan Elmer. Giftbearers will be Francesca Corbello, Benjamin Corbello, April Corbello, Bryan Elmer and Michael Elmer. Krista Corbello, organist and soloist, will sing for the services. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Francis C. Corbello; one daughter, Deborah Corbello Elmer and her husband, Daniel; four sons, Michael "Kurt" Corbello, Edward Louis Corbello and his wife, Carleen, Clinton James Corbello and Herbert Mark Corbello; one sister, Theresa Broussard Dawes; two brothers, Clyve Broussard and Peter "Sapires" Broussard; and thirteen grandchildren, Benjamin Corbello, Nicholas Corbello, Michael Elmer, April Corbello, Bryan Elmer, Krista Corbello, Ysabel Corbello, Grace Mauberret, Sarah Corbello, Francesca Corbello, Tara Tentou, Alexandra Tentou and Seth Owens. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis D. and Mae Stutes Broussard; one brother, Herbert Broussard; one sister, Sarah Broussard Hargrave; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Corbello and Mary Corbello. Elife Broussard Corbello was a native of Maurice, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She was a member of the See Saw Dance Club for over 25 years, and enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and cajun dancing. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church Community in Lafayette. Mrs. Corbello loved playing pokeno, bourré and going to the casino with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Edward Corbello, Clinton Corbello, Herbert Corbello, Nicholas Corbello, Burt Hargrave and Scottie Dawes. C.H. Howard Driggers BROUSSARD - A Mass of Christian Burial for C.H. Howard Driggers, 89, will be 10:00am Thursday June 4, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard with Rev. Bill Ruskoski officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Mausoleum in Esther, LA. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette Wednesday June 3, 2015 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will resume Thursday from 8:00am until service time. Howard, born in Heflin, LA and a resident of Broussard passed away Monday June 1, 2015 in his residence. He was a U.S. Army Veteran stationed in the South Pacific, New Guinea and The Philippines. He retired from Halliburton as a Supervisor after 32 years of service. He was very active in the Catholic Church and was a 4th degree Knight with Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus at the time of his death. He was a devoted father who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Dorothy "Dot" Driggers of Broussard; 3 daughters, Katherine Driggers of Mansfield, LA, Patricia M. Randall and Husband Kenneth of Jena, LA, Bea Moore and Husband Michael of Arnaudville, LA; 1 Sister, Helen Pate of Ringgold, LA; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Thelma Driggers, his grandson Eddie Primeaux, 2 brothers Troy and Billy Driggers, 2 sisters Gloria Franklin and Theda Litton. Duet, 86, who passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, LA, after a brief illness. Visitation will be observed on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 9:00 am until the time of services, at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport, LA. A rosary will be recited Monday, June 1, 2015 at 9:30 am at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport, LA. Inurnment will follow in Holy Savior Mausoleum in Lockport, LA. The Very Reverend Robert C. Rogers, VF, Pastor of Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport, LA, will officiate. Therese was born on October 2, 1928 in Cut Off, LA to Sampson P. Duet and Frazia Gisclair Duet. She grew up in Galliano, LA and graduated from Cut Off High School in 1946. Therese moved to New Orleans so she could attend Soule Business College from which she graduated in 1948. Her first job was at Valentine Sugars where she worked for Mr. T.M. Barker. Therese met, fell in love and married John J. Hebert, Jr. from Lockport, LA. After her marriage, she moved to Anchorage, Alaska where her husband was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base. For a time, Therese worked for Alaskan Airlines' CEO, before giving birth to her daughter. Later, they were transferred to Cape Canaveral in Florida. After John was discharged from the Air Force, they returned to South Louisiana. Therese lived in Lockport, LA for more than 50 years, working as a bookkeeper for several accountants and insurance agencies. After retiring from bookkeeping, she began a second career as an Ombudsman, advocating nursing home patients' rights in Lafourche Parish. While working as an Ombudsman, Therese received an award as LA Department of Health and Human Resources Ombudsman of the Year. In 2007, she moved to Lafayette, LA to be close to her daughter. Therese made many friends in Lafayette and enjoyed her final years before Alzheimer's disease made it impossible for her to live alone. She resided at Cornerstone South for the past two years. Those left behind to cherish her memories include one daughter, Roxanna Hebert Champagne and her husband, Earl of Lafayette, LA; one son, John D. Hebert and his wife, Nancy Morris Hebert of Raceland, LA; four grandchildren, Jonathan J. Champagne and his wife, Dawn of Katy, TX, Caroline Champagne Courville, MD and her husband, Clifford Courville, MD of Lake Charles, LA, Erik J. Hebert of Florida and Alex Hebert of Raceland, LA; one brother, Donald Duet of Flatonia, TX; four great grandsons; three great granddaughters and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sampson and Frazia Duet; her first husband, John J. Hebert, Jr.; final husband, Lincoln Cheramie; three brothers, Edwin, Elvin and Antoine Duet and one sister, Rica Duet Danos. The family wishes to thank the nurses and caregivers at Cornerstone South, Inc. and the nurses and aids of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, who treated her with gentleness and compassion during her final days. They would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the caregivers of Heart of Hospice, who guided and supported the family during her illness and made her final days as comfortable as possible. Michael Dugas, Sr. DUSON - Funeral services will be held Saturday May 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, LA for Michael Dugas, Sr., 54, who passed away May 19, 2015. Interment will be in St. Benedict De Moor Catholic Church Cemetery in Duson LA. Michael Dugas graduated from Acadiana High School in 1978. In 1980 he graduated from Lafayette Regional Vocational Tech with a diploma in HVAC/R. Michael worked for the school board, Butcher Air Conditioning, Wal-Mart, and Monsters Heavy Haulers; which was his final place of employment. Mike is known as the AC man all around town helping anyone and everyone in need. He is survived by loving wife of 20 years, Michelle Johnson of Lafayette LA; four daughters: Lauren, Michaela, Madison, Mckenzie; two sons Cory, Michael Jr. Dugas all of Duson LA.; six grandchildren; father, Eddie Dugas Sr.; two brothers, Vernell (Del) Dugas of Baton Rouge LA, Lester (Patsy) Dugas of Duson LA; a loving mother- in- law, Merline Johnson; three brothers -in- law: Michael, Kevin, Corey (Vanessa) Johnson all of Lafayette LA; two sisters- in -law, Vikki Griffin, Denise Johnson; two aunts, Clara Dugas and Thelma Prejean and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leanna Melancon; brother, Eddie Dugas Jr.; paternal grandparents, Sidney and Novinia Dugas; maternal grandparents, Frank Ernest and Lena Melancon. Clara "Claire" Albert Gary LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2015 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette for Clara Marie Gary, age 88, the former Clara Marie Albert, who passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones in Lafayette. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. The Rev. Michael Deblanc, associate pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services. Ms. Gary was a native of St. Martinville and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She retired from Golden Cleaners in Lafayette in 1996 after 43 years of service. She volunteered as a foster grandparent at St. Leo Seton Elementary School and Alice Boucher Elementary School for 15 years. Ms. Gary was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Anne "Pat" Boutin and husband, Calvin, of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Hali Boutin and Damon Boutin; seven great grandchildren, Gage Boutin, Kelsea Boutin, Jude Boutin, Jayda Theriot, Kalon Duplantis, Braylon Duplantis and Haydon Duplantis; two brothers, Zerben Albert and wife, Theresa, and Carrol Albert, all of Lafayette; two sisters, Gertrude Mouton of Scott, Lula Mae Landry and husband, Wiley, of St. Martinville; and her former husband, Willie Gary of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aymar Albert and the former Cecile Laviolette; and four brothers, Harry Albert, Clarence Albert, Newton "N.J. Albert and Cleopha Albert. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
