Mendez, Pat
Pat Mendez LAFAYETTE - Pat went peacefully into the Kingdom of Our Heavenly Father at her home on Friday, February 6, 2015. Pat's wishes were to be cremated. Pat was born on December 12, 1938 in New Orleans to Alec and Maria Hohorst Mendes. The family moved to Lafayette, where her mother's family was living. She attended Mount Carmel School and graduated from Lafayette High School. She was survived by many relatives and friends in Lafayette and the surrounding area, as well as in New York City, Tampa, FL and New Orleans. Pat was a walking encyclopedia of movies, actors, music and an avid admirer of "Babs" Streisand. She was a charmer, dancer, actress and often as zany as Lucille Ball, all wrapped up in one. She traveled to New York City and stepped out onto Broadway and danced in the street just so she could tell everyone back home that she "danced on broadway". She rode her "Charmin" model pink motor scooter in and around Lafayette, so often that she was revered as "The Pink Scooter Lady". Anyone who spent even a few minutes with Pat, would never forget her. Pat, we know you're in a better place and we all love and miss you. There will never be another! A Mass will be offered in Pat's honor on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 9:00 AM in St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette. Personal condolences may be sent to the Mendes family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com . Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA.
