Virgil Hulon Barksdale NEW IBERIA - New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in New Iberia, for Virgil Hulon Barksdale, 90, who passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, in Lafayette. Rev. Scott Bullock will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM. Additional services and interment will be Monday, May 9, 2015 in Douglas, Georgia. A resident of Broussard, Mr. Barksdale was born on August 9, 1925 in Fort Valley, Georgia to Virgil and Elizabeth Smith Barksdale. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having proudly served our country during World War II, and worked for the Signal Thread Company for over 40 years. Mr. Barksdale enjoyed traveling, but most of all spending time with his family, and friends. Survivors include his daughters, Lane Barksdale Walker and husband Dr. James Walker of Broussard, and Beth Barksdale Norris of Ocala, Florida; brother, John F. Barksdale and wife JoAnn of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Bill Tomlin, Drew Tomlin, Meredith Walker Allain and husband David, Whitney Walker, and Virginia Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Griffin Barksdale; sister, Margaret Barksdale Banks; and an infant daughter. Doris Mae Begnaud LAFAYETTE - Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Delhomme Funeral Home of Scott for Doris Mae Begnaud, 79, who passed away on April 25, 2016. Reverend Frank Ducharme, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Scott will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Mrs. Begnaud, a native of Cutoff, LA and a resident of Lafayette for the past 20 years, was the daughter of the late Olivier Angelette and the former Nolia Terrebonne. Doris will be remembered for her love of music and gift of hospitality. Her joy of cooking for others overflowed to her family, neighbors, friends, and members of the church. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Claude Martin Begnaud, Sr.; one son, C. Martin Begnaud, Jr. and his wife, Tiffany of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Camille Begnaud of Lafayette and Claire Falgout and her husband, Chad of San DIego, CA; five grandchildren, Coen and Ella Begnaud, Jeanne, Gabrielle and Sylvie Falgout; two sisters, Vergis A. Pitre and Audrey A. Veazey. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leo Angelette, three sisters, Olivia "Tut" A. Lefort, Theresa A. LeVasseur and Irma A. Dupont and one grandchild, Christopher Begnaud. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Boudreaux, Corbett  
Corbett Dean "Popcorn" Boudreaux SCOTT - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church in Carencro for Corbett Dean Boudreaux, age 64, who died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at his residence in Scott. The Rev. Nick Peters and Rev. John Primeaux, pastor of First Baptist Church in Carencro, will officiate at the services. Mr. Boudreaux was a native of Lafayette and had been a resident of Scott for the past forty-four years where he was employed with ACME Trucking for twenty years. Mr. Boudreaux had a passion for music and played bass for Bay City Express. He enjoyed gardening, and barbecuing but most importantly, spending time with his wife. A very loving man, Mr. Boudreaux always had a smile and was easygoing and laid-back. He was a hardworking, devoted family man who will be greatly missed. Survivors include: his wife of forty-four years, Sandra Dugas Boudreaux of Scott; two daughters, Crystal Boudreaux Rawlins and husband, Ben, of New Iberia, LA and Sherri Boudreaux and husband, Chad, of Youngsville; four grandchildren, Cody Seth Boudreaux, Trey Michael Boudreaux, Hannah Rene Puckett and Jacob Matthiew Brasseaux; one brother, Scotty Boudreaux of Lafayette; and two sisters, Cassie Duhon and husband, Sean, of Lafayette, and Ashley Mark and husband, Stacy, of New Orleans. He was preceded in death by his father, Corbett Alex Boudreaux and his mother, Mayrella Trahan Hanks. Amedia Bower SCOTT - Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at a 12:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Amedia Bower, age 89, who died at 7:00 AM on Monday, April 25, 2016 at her residence in Lafayette. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Reverend Corey Campeaux, Pastor of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Gueydan, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Patsy) Bower Farmer of Houston, Tx and Jessica Bower Sonnier and her husband, Kenny of Lafayette; one son, Richard Bower and his wife, Kathy of Duson; nine grandchildren, Terry Farmer, Seanne Farmer, Chad Bower, Tonya Bower Bearb, Dawn Bower Bernard, Christy Bower Harrison, Hannah Sonnier and Sarah Sonnier Roper; sixteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmo Bower; one son, Michael Bower; one granddaughter, Angela Farmer Townsend; one great grandson, Taylor David Bearb; parents, Theogene Mire and Anna Lee LeBlanc Mire; seven brothers, Roman, Clovis, Ellis, Laurant, Alfred, Alexander and Curley Mire; and two sisters, Mable Mire Whittington and Lydia Mire Hebert. A resident of Scott, Louisiana for most of her life, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Mrs. Bower loved to dance and tell jokes. She enjoyed cooking for her family and loved to bake fig tarts and was also a very talented seamstress. Pallbearers will be Richard Bower, Kenny Sonnier, Chad Bower, Terry Farmer, Bradley Bower and Rory Roper. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Bearb, Ray Bernard and Nicholas Perales. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SCOTT location on Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service. Broussard, Harvey  
Harvey Lee Broussard LAFAYETTE - A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Harvey Lee Broussard, 86, who passed away on April 26, 2016. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville, JCL, will be Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Harvey, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Harry Broussard and the former Pearl Rodrigue. Harvey was a graduate of Cathedral Carmel High School. He retired from Sears after 35 years as Appliance Department Manager. Harvey enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1948 and was Honorably Discharged in 1956, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was a parishioner of St. Jules Catholic Church and was active in the St. Jules Knights of Columbus. Harvey was an avid sailor and boating enthusiast, who was an active member of the Cypremort Point Yacht Club, serving as Commodore where he enjoyed numerous races and gatherings with friends. He also loved traveling and camping with his wife, Ruth and working outdoors on his farm property. In retirement Harvey spent countless hours entertaining his grandchildren who he cherished. Above all, Harvey was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Sellers Broussard; his daughter, Joan Moody and her husband, Daniel; two grandchildren, Ellen and Ben Moody; one sister, Sable Hidalgo and one brother, Hubert Broussard and his wife, Gaynell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. She is survived by her companion, Ansley Semere, Sr.; sons, Gerrvis Carron and wife Margaret, and Clifton Carron; daughters, Verde Morgan and husband Wilton, Sr., Mary Rose Alfred and husband Clarence, Jr., Elsie Chaisson, Mary Agnes Dural, Lou Anna Carron, Linda Carron, and Lenora Carron; brother, Roosevelt Noel; sister, Shirley Zenon; 27 grandchildren; and numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Gladys Broussard Bergeron; her husband, Carlton Carron; a son, Irvin Carron; her grandchildren, Kassandra Alfred and Karen Alfred, Cleo and Carolyn Carron, and Deontra Alexander; her brother, Gilbert Noel; and sisters, Hilda Jones, Eula Jones, and Soloma Borel. Anna "Jean" Cormier CANKTON - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Anna "Jean" Cormier, age 71, the former Anna Menard, who passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 3:32 p.m. at her residence in Church Point. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Mrs. Cormier was a native of Cankton, lived in Lafayette for 30 years before returning to Cankton. She enjoyed cooking and playing booray with friends and family, camping and loved her grandbabies dearly. Survivors include her husband, Lionel Cormier of Cankton; one son, Dwayne Cormier and his wife, Layne, of Eunice; one daughter, Sheila Cormier Guidry and her husband, Ricky, of Cankton; five grandchildren, Bryxane Cormier of Lawtell, Austin Guidry of Cankton, Alyse Cormier of Eunice, Dakota Cormier and Scout Cormier, both of Chicago; three great-grandchildren, Ellie Fontenot, Jolie Fontenot and Mathen Fontenot, all of Lawtell; one brother, Gerald Menard and his wife, Jackie, of Scott; one sister, Earline Menard Guidry of Lafayette; and numerous nieces, nephews and step grandchildren. Epperly, Robert "Jack"  
Robert "Jack" Epperly Welsh - Robert "Jack" Epperly, 94, a resident of Welsh was entrusted to God's loving care on Friday, April 29, 2016. Jack was born on January 19, 1922 in Pine Island. He graduated from Welsh High School. Jack was a United States Veteran of the United States Army Air Force having served in World War II. He married Wilda Taylor Epperly June 3, 1946. He retired from The Mutual Warehouse (John Deere Implement). Jack was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Welsh. He served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons; Donald Epperly (Linda), Hemphill, TX, Smiley Epperly (Frances), Lafayette, and daughter, Connie Epperly Perkins (Alvin), Ragley, grandsons; Damon Epperly of Lake Charles, Derek Epperly (Grace) of Key West, Fla., Brandon Epperly,(Katrina), Youngsville, and Jonathan Doucet (Nancy) of Lake Charles, granddaughters; Shelley Doucet of Lake Charles and Kimberly E. Broussard (Derek) of Maurice, great-grandsons; Christian, Darion, Dash, and Asher Epperly, great-granddaughters, Elizabeth McDaniel, Brynna Doucet, Emma Trahan, Alexis Matt, Savannah Epperly, and Madelyn Broussard, great-great-grandsons; Jackson and Carter Epperly and a great-great-granddaughter, Violet Taylor. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Taylor Epperly; parents, Frank Epperly and Rosalee Prentice Epperly, five brothers; Albert Epperly, James Epperly, Sr., Johnny Epperly, Charles (Buzz) Epperly, Floyd Epperly, and one sister, Jeanette Epperly Sheumaker. The visitation will commence at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm and will continue on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 9:00am until 12:30 at the funeral home. Visitation will resume at the First Baptist Church in Welsh from 1:00pm until time of service at 2:00pm. Rev. Pat Deshotel will officiate. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh. Marjorie Ferry Seneca, SC - Marjorie Louise Fisher Ferry, 89, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca. Mrs. Ferry was born in Crowley, LA and was a daughter of the late Henry John and Nita Marie Estorge Fisher. She was retired from the business office of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, LA and was a member of Cathedral of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA. Surviving are her daughter, Jane Peck and her husband, John (Jack) of Seneca; three grandchildren, John Peck, Jr. and his wife, Rita, Brian James Peck and his wife, Heather, and Rachel Gutmann and her husband Ethan; five great grandchildren, Katherine Grace, Benjamin Michael and Lily Jane Peck, Elliot Timothy and Brendan Michael Gutmann; eight nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clement Ferry; two brothers, Gerald and Estorge Fisher; two sisters, Sylvia Wild and Anna Lucille Fisher. Memorial Mass and burial will be held at Cathedral of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church at a later date.
