Barabara Helen Carmouche Wooley

RAYNE - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Memorial Mass at Our Mother of Mercy Shrine in Rayne, Louisiana for Barabara Helen Carmouche Wooley, 65, who died on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Reverend Richard Wagner, S.S.J., Pastor of Our Mother of Mercy Shrine in Rayne, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Memorial Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Left to cherish her memories include her sister, Elaine Carmouche Wooley; her brother, Terry P. Carmouche Senegal; and her half sister, Alvina Williams.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Clebe Wooley; her parents, Alvie and Elizabeth Carmouche Wooley; her grandparents, Alcide Carmouche and Edmae Earnest Carmouche; her half sister, Charlesteen Alfred; and her half brother, Cleveland Wooley.

A resident of Rayne, Louisiana, Barabara Helen Carmouche Wooley was a well known artist, also known as Bhi Wooley. Her works are displayed at the Lafayette Art Association, Crowley Art Association, Rayne Museum, and Zigler Museum in Jennings. She was a member of the Rayne Historical and Beautification Committee. She was always helping with African American and Native American foundations. Because she was so active in African and Native American foundations, she became a part of history when her name was inscribed on the wall at the Native American Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C. Barabara contributed greatly to help try and keep the environment clean. She retired from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette after working over 30 years as a comptroller. Barabara was a member of the Board of U.L.L. Credit Union and other various organizations on campus. She loved to travel, crab, fish, paint, craft sculptures, and garden. She was a life long member of Our Mother of Mercy Shrine in Rayne. Barabara Helen Carmouche Wooley was a loving sister and friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
