Charles deVilleneuve Allain, Jr.
LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Mother of the Church Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette for Mr. Charles deVilleneuve Allain, Jr., 64, who died peacefully at his home on Monday, February 7, 2011, with family prayerfully at his bedside.
Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
The Reverend Father Harold Trahan, Pastor of St. Mary Mother of the Church Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the main Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and Rev. Michael Russo will serve as Homilist. Musical selections will be performed by soloist Pat Melancon accompanied by organist Deborah Duhon and trumpeter Will Green.
A native of Franklin, Mr. Allain lived in Lafayette for the past thirty years. He finished high school at Hanson Memorial in Franklin and received a Bachelor of Science degree from LSU in 1969. Mr. Allain earned an Associate's Degree in Medical Record Administration in 1970 while serving as an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, and a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1974. He was a member of St. Mary Mother of the Church Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, Catholic Charismatic Renewal and Immaculata Prayer Group.
Mr. Allain is survived by his wife Loraine Laws Allain and two children, Eleanor Catherine Allain and Charles deVilleneuve Allain, III, his wife Jennifer Marmande Allain and their first child due in July, all of Lafayette. Also surviving him are his siblings Anne Allain Chadwick and her husband, Win and Reid Proctor Allain, all of New Orleans, Dr. Brent Wheeler Allain and wife, Judith of Franklin and Alexander deVilleneuve Allain, II and his wife, Denise of Mobile, AL.
Preceding him in death were his parents Charles and Henrietta Allain; and a brother, Dr. Mark Pentecost Allain.
Visitation will be observed on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette and will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary led by members of the Immaculata Prayer Group will be held on Wednesday evening, February 9, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Pallbearers are Charles deVilleneuve Allain, III, Alexander deVilleneuve Allain, Roland Bennet Laws, Jr., Daniel Luke, Mark A. Chauvin and Richard Fitzgerald.
Honorary Bearers are Reid Proctor Allain, Brent Wheeler Allain, Sr., M.D. and Winslow Chadwick.
The family would like to thank Helen Armstead, Cynthia Fontenot and Hospice of Acadiana, especially Jenny Beach and Rose Lilly, for their love and care during Mr. Allain's illness.
