Charles Edward Cosper, Sr.
LAFAYETTE - Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery for Charles Edward Cosper, Sr., 81, who passed away on October 26, 2012 at 2:45 am at his residence.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Cosper, a resident of Carencro, LA, was the son of the former Louise Whitley of Edna, Texas. Charles was employed by Stan's Auto Center. He was a graduate of Texas A&M which prompted him to join the military. He was a United States Army
Veteran who served at Fort Devens in Ayer, MA, and later at the Pentagon. He was an avid hockey fan who loved watching the Ice Gators play. Charles was the Student Union Business manager at "LSU" and then the Student Union Director at "USL". After retiring, he was a small business owner in Lafayette, owning The Ice Cream Shop on Rena Drive, Cosper's Bed and Bath, and Kitchen Stuff. He was the kindest and best of men.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn D. Cosper of Carencro, LA; two sons, Charles E. Cosper, Jr. and wife Traci of Jackson, MS, and Stanley B. Cosper and wife Joan of Carencro, LA; five grandchildren, Jacob Cosper, Audrey Cosper, Jennifer Duhon, Jessica LeJeune and Elizabeth G. Payne; sixteen great grandchildren; one niece, Camille Radaker; and one nephew, Allen White.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his sister-in-law, Fleta White and one granddaughter, Victoria Camille Cosper.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm and on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of service.
Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Mr. Cosper to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA, 70503.
Pallbearers will be Stan Cosper, Charlie Cosper, Nat Duhon, Jacob Cosper, Mike Bishoff, Cassidy LeJeune and Howard Radaker.
