Cora Lee Hebert Figaro

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at I1:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Cora Lee Hebert Figaro. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

On Saturday, March 8, our dear aunt, Cora Lee Hebert Figaro passed away, in Atlanta GA, where she had lived with her daughter, Rita. Nena, as she was known by her nieces and nephews, is the second born daughter and one of five children born to Felix Hebert Sr. and Cora Lee Garon, for whom she was named. She is survived by her sister Stella Hebert Boyd; by her children Deborah, Mark and Rita, and her grandson, Marcus. Please join us in prayer and in sending our condolences to them.

We will always treasure our dear aunt's grace and style and her ability to withstand hardship and adversity with her bountiful love. As the daughter whose task it was to help Papa in the fields, she tended the vegetable garden. She loved being outdoors. Anyone who ever saw or wore her incredible clothes, quilts, etc. can only attest to all the love that went into anything that she did. Her Toll House cookies are still legendary as are the culinary delights we loved to have when she was around...fried chicken and red beans and rice on Saturdays, if I recall!

Nena's culinary delights and the beautiful couture anything that sprang from her hands are but a small comparison to the absolute gift of love that she so generously gave to all of us. She and Uncle Chat doted on us with genuine love and concern. They dealt us the same equanimity that they gave their own kids, making us know that we were loved, cared for and that the best was expected. Always. Nena and Uncle Chat even took our elder brother, Jesse, to live with them when our dad was hospitalized. Family is everything and it meant everything to Nena.

A rosary will be recited Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by visitation until time of service.
