Daisy LeBlanc Gauthier
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Daisy LeBlanc Gauthier, 91, who died on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by her family.
Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Zandra Gauthier and Hailey Gauthier. Giftbearers will be Tammy Jacobsen and Terri Bethke. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Ave Maria," "The Old Rugged Cross," "Just A Closer Walk With Thee," "Be Not Afraid," and "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman.".
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Gary Dale Gauthier and his wife Patricia (Pat) and Lane Patrick Gauthier and his wife Lanny; two grandchildren, Troy Dale Gauthier and his wife Dana and Rickey Paul Gauthier and his wife, Zandra; three great grandchildren, Megan Gauthier, Courtney Gauthier and Hailey Gauthier; two sisters, Melba Howell and Molly Hebert; and her K-9 companion, "Lily".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jules Joseph Gauthier; her parents, Fredy and Celeman Thibodeaux LeBlanc; one sister, Marie LeBlanc; and one brother, Ashly LeBlanc .
Daisy LeBlanc Gauthier was born on November 5, 1922 in Vermilion Parish and raised there most of her life before settling in Lafayette. She loved sewing, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Daisy was a devout Catholic and prayed her Rosary faithfully. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all and will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be Rickey Gauthier, Marlon Holmes, Ryan Richard and Walter Moreau. Honorary pallbearers will be Grant Richard, Ryan "Sonny" Gauthier, Lester Gauthier, Jr. and George Broussard.
A Rosary will be recited by Brady LeBlanc on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
The family would like to give special thanks to Barbara Carrier, Eva Dell Guidry, and the nurses and staff of Heart of Hospice for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Daisy and her family during their time of need. The family would also like to thank the Eucharistic Ministers of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, who provided communion for Daisy at home during her illness.
