Donald Hugh Milliken
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at a 1:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Donald Hugh Milliken, 81, who died peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Cornerstone Village South in Lafayette surrounded by his family.
Interment will be in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Martha Marse and Edward Gauthier. Giftbearers will be his children as well as his adopted daughter, Jöel Denis. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "On Eagles' Wings," "Psalm 23," "Prayer of St. Francis," "What So Ever You Do," and "Let There Be Peace On Earth."
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 60 years, Celeste "Willi" Dupont Milliken; two sons, Donald H. Milliken, Jr. (Wanita) of Summerville, SC and Michael Milliken of Lafayette, LA; three daughters, Anna M. Gauthier (Edward) of Lafayette, LA, Cynthia M. Dickey (Ronald) of Fountain, FL, and Adrienne M. Monroe of Bradenton, FL; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Frank Milliken, III (Faye) of Dallas, TX; and one sister, Anna "Betty" M. Davis of Sykesville, MD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank M. Milliken and Anna Samson Milliken.
Donald Hugh Milliken was born on September 15, 1932 in Crowley, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette for over 34 years. He was a pilot in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. He went on to work as a salesman for oilfield service companies for many years before his retirement. He will always be remembered for his generosity, compassionate nature and wonderful sense of humor. Mr. Milliken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, André Gauthier, Gabriel Emile Gauthier, Christian Dickey, Christopher Monroe, Marc Monroe and Matthew Monroe.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of services.
