Edresta "TeTa" Carter
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church for Edresta "TeTa" Carter, age 75, the former Edresta Rubin, who passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Assumption Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Hampton Davis, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Carter was a native of Carencro and a resident of Lafayette for over fifty years. She retired in 2000 as a dietary worker at S.L.I and the University of Southwestern, now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, after being employed for over forty years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Queen of Peace Prayer Group and Ladies Altar Society.
Survivors include one daughter, Birdella Carter Sinegal and her husband, Terry, of Lafayette; one son, Paul F. Carter and his wife, Lydale, of Carencro; three grandchildren, Antonio Thibodeaux, Alyssa Carter and MaKayla Carter; one great grandchild, Ryder Thibodeaux; three step-grandchildren, T.J. Sinegal, Megan Sinegal and Danica Sinegal; seven step-great grandchildren; one sister, Evadell R. Padio and her husband, Calvin, of Lamarque, TX; one sister-in-law, Alberta C. Poydras of Lafayette; and one brother-in-law, Clifton Carter and his wife, Geraldine, of Slidell.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty nine years, Paul Cleveland Carter; her parents, Felix Rubin and the former Marita Cormier both natives of Carencro; and one brother, Shirley Rubin.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
