SCOTT - Gayle Manuel, of Scott, Louisiana, passed away on March 16th, 2014, at the age of 69. She was born in Mamou, Louisiana on June 3rd, 1944. Gayle graduated from Mamou High School.
Gayle never knew a stranger and was the rock of her family. She treated anyone and everyone she ever met as a lifelong friend. She was known as one of the most generous, warm, caring, genuine and loyal souls, who loved her family and friends fiercely. Her door was always open to all who needed. She was the greatest cook who passionately shared her cajun cooking skills with countless friends and family, young and old. She was an athlete throughout her life and loved volleyball and softball, and her loyalty to the New Orleans Saints could not be matched. Gayle loved to listen and dance to Cajun music and celebrated life at any opportunity she had. Her heart and her home were always open to friends and family, where she always had a pot of rice and gravy or gumbo on the stove for anyone who stopped by. Her indomitable spirit will continue to live on through her children, her family, and all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, daughter Michelle Manuel McDonald of Lafayette, La; son, Russ Manuel and wife Theresa of Lafayette, La; son Hunter Manuel and wife Tatiana Somers of New York, NY; brother Keith Reed and wife Faye of Lafayette, La; sister Doris Ritter and husband Jim of Carencro, La; her grandchildren Jared Courville of Lafayette, La; Amanda Manuel of Lake Charles, La; Braxton Manuel and his sister Bailey Manuel of Lafayette, La; Austin Somers-Manuel of New York, NY.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Curly and Adeline Reed; her grandson, Brock Courville, and her two brothers Gerald Reed and Jeffrey Reed.
Memorial Mass will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers. Reverend Louis Richard, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Broussard will be the celebrant of the Memorial Mass. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA will be in charge of funeral arrangements.
