SCOTT - Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at a 1:00 PM Service in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, for George Lewis Arceneaux, 71, who died on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana.

Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate the funeral services, assisted by Deacon Jude Arceneaux, brother to George. Lectors will be Lynne Dupuis and Marie Landry, his nieces. Jenci Meche, niece, will sing for the services.

Survivors include two sisters, his twin sister, Joyce Marie Arceneaux of Lakeland, Florida and Becca Begnaud of Scott, LA; two brothers, Deacon Jude Arceneaux and his wife, Jan of Lakeland, Florida and Eugene Arceneaux and his wife Gail of Hammond, LA; two nieces, Lynne Dupuis and Marie Landry; four nephews, Eddie Meche and his wife, Michelle, Ray Meche and his wife, Jency, Don Meche and his wife, Samoa and Drew Landry; 10 great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew.

He was preceded in death by mother, Marie Therese Pellessier Begnaud; his father, Wesby A. Arceneaux; and one niece, Dana Landry Massey.

George Lewis Arceneaux was born on November 30, 1941 in Lafayette, Louisiana and was a native of Scott for most of his life. Mr. Arceneaux was a veteran of military service, having proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as a horse trainer for many years training thoroughbred horses and also was an avid fisherman and musician. Mr. Arceneaux was a vocalist and drummer for the Swamp Pop band "The Tramps" and was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame. He was a fun loving brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Meche, Ray Meche, Don Meche, Louis Dupuis, Drew Landry, and Stephen Pellessier.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his great nieces and nephews, Taylor, Jordan and Nikolas Meche, Lauren and Lance Dupuis, Madison Massey, Ariana Giambrone, Brock Meche, Ricki Roy, Christen Willis, Cody, Chelsea, and Bodie Stelly, and Bryce Meche Jano.

A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 7:00 PM by his brother, Deacon Jude Arceneaux in Martin & Castille's SCOTT Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Sunday from 9:00 AM until time of services.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Arceneaux's name to the Discalced Carmelite Sisters, Monastery of Mary Mother of Grace, 1250 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA. 70501.
