Gladys M. Guilbeau
CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Gladys M. Guilbeau, age 85, the former Gladys Moss, who passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 1:00 a.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Andre Metrejean, associate pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Clara Arceneaux and Rene Duhon. Giftbearers will be Linda and Vernon Romero.
Mrs. Guilbeau was a native of Rayne and a resident of Carencro for over sixty years. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro, a member of Bonne Mort Society, St. Anne Society and the Ladies Altar Society. Mrs. Guilbeau also belonged to St. Peter Eucharistic Adoration Chapel and a member of the Cankton Swingers.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Guilbeaux and his wife, Beth, of Lafayette and Bobby Guilbeau and his wife, Kim, of Carencro; five grandchildren, Amy O'Quain and her husband, Mike, Lynn Bone and her husband, Lucien, III, Chrissy Thompson and her husband, Mark, Jared Guilbeau and Andre Guilbeau; six great grandchildren, Carly O'Quain, Cameryn O'Quain, Lucien Bone, IV, Lily Bone, Addison Thompson and Mark Wayne Thompson; and two good friends, Rene Duhon of Scott and Clara Arceneaux of Carencro.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Henry Joseph Guilbeau; her parents, Arthur Mayo Moss and the former Josette Trahan, both natives of Rayne; and three sisters, Julia M. Savoie, Rose M. Lavergne and Delia M. Grossie.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Guilbeau, Jared Guilbeau, Andre Guilbeau, Ervin Stoutes, Jackie Miller and Huey Savoie. Honorary pallbearers will be Rene Duhon, Elmer Savoie, Charles Babineaux, Jimmy Babineaux, Pat Cormier, Norwood Menard, Vernon Romero, Tommy Faul and Gil Broussard.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the members and staff of Lafayette General Medical Center 5th floor, Dr. Juan Perez, Dr. Bradley Chastant and her close friend, Clara Arceneaux.
