Harold Joseph Norman

CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Harold Joseph Norman, age 91, who passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 5:55 a.m. at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Mr. Norman was a native of Lafayette, where he lived most of his life. He had been a resident of Carencro for the past 28 years. He was employed as a carpenter for many years and was a retired horse trainer, which he was very passionate about. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Dona Hebert Norman of Carencro; two sons, Jimmy Norman and wife, Doreen, of New Iberia, Harold Anthony Norman of Lafayette; two daughters, Patty Leger and husband, Kenneth, of Texas, Patricia Shay of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Anne Franks and her husband, James, Cody Leger, Joy Leger, Paul Cooper, Halle Cooper, Cameron Shay; numerous great grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil J. Norman and wife, Virginia, of Erath, Hubert Norman and wife, Lee, of Scott; one sister, Laura Jones of Youngsville; and his beloved dog, Robin Beebee. He was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Norman and the former Loda Doucet; and two brothers, Alvin J. Norman and Charles J. Norman.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Harold Anthony Norman, Paul Cooper, Hubert Norman, Kenneth Leger, Doug Judice and Matthew Bernard.

In lieu of flowers, the family request monetary donations may be made to help defray expenses.
