Harold L. Domingue, Sr.
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church for Harold L. Domingue, Sr., 77, who died on Wednesday, December 12, 2012.
Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.
The Very Reverend Monsignor Robie Robichaux, JCL, Pastor of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Abbi Domingue and Michelle Scelfo. Gift bearers will be Robyn Stires, Rikki Dene Mouton, Elizabeth Domingue, Laura Domingue, Alexis Domingue, Megan Scelfo and Stefani Domingue. Phyllis Simar, vocalist, accompanied by Ron Moreau, organist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace," "The Lord is My Shepherd," "Be Not Afraid," "The Old Rugged Cross," "I Will Never Forget You," and "On Eagles' Wings."
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Macklyn Breaux Domingue of Lafayette, LA; two daughters, Denise Domingue Scelfo and her husband, Leonard, and Macklyn Angele "Tuti" Domingue; five sons, Ricky Dean Domingue and his wife, Tina, Randy James Domingue and his wife, Suzette, Stephen John Domingue and his wife, Jeanie, Harold Lee Domingue, Jr. and his wife, Monica, and William Todd Domingue; fourteen grandchildren Dustin James Domingue, Derek Adam Domingue, Robyn Domingue Stires, Harold Lee Domingue, III, Darren Todd Domingue, Abbi Renee Domingue, Rikki Dene Domingue Mouton, Andrew Scott Domingue, Elizabeth Marie Domingue, Michelle Elise Scelfo, Laura Yvonne Domingue, Alexis Anne Domingue, Megan Denise Scelfo and Stefani Claire Domingue; one step granddaughter, Jennifer LaBorde; five great grandchildren, Jace Anthony Stires, Elle Analee Mouton, Caleigh Marie Stires, Aury Lynn Mouton and Nolee Grae Mouton; two step great grandchildren, Jackson Minos Sylvester and William Patrick LaBorde; and two sisters, Helen Domingue Horaist and Merrita Domingue Oldenburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delpha and Leota Mouton Domingue; three brothers, Frank Domingue, D. Roy Domingue and Patrick J. Domingue; two sisters, Lucy Domingue Conques and Juanita Domingue Trahan; one grandson, Eric Michael Domingue; his paternal grandparents, Jacques and Andrea Domingue; and his maternal grandparents, Felix and Regina Mouton.
Harold Lee Domingue, born on March 15, 1935 in Lafayette, Louisiana, was a veteran of military service and proudly served his country as a member of the Louisiana National Guard.
He was a Vice President of Washington Life Insurance Company of America, employed for over forty years. He served as a police juror for the Lafayette Parish Police Jury and was the Chairman of the first Lafayette Parish Council in 1984, altogether serving for twenty-one years.
Mr. Domingue was a former commissioner of the Heymann Performing Arts Center and Frem F. Boustany Convention Center and was the first chairman of the Juvenile Detention Home. He was a member of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, former charter member of the Kiwanis Club and the Rotary Club
Mr. Domingue was a Past President of the Greater Southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras Association and served as its Captain in 1982. He was a member of the Krewe of Gabriel and former member of the Krewe of Triton, reigning as King Triton VIII in 1987.
Mr. Domingue founded the Little League Baseball and Football in North Lafayette and coached for fifteen years. He was a former member of the Lafayette Parish Youth Baseball Association. He was a former President of the Carencro High School, Northside High School and Teurlings Catholic High Boosters Clubs. Mr. Domingue was a proud supporter of UL-Lafayette Athletics.
Mr. Domingue was a faithful member of the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Community in Lafayette and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Dean Domingue, Randy James Domingue, Stephen John Domingue, Harold Lee Domingue, Jr., William Todd Domingue and Leonard Anthony Scelfo. Honorary pallbearers will be John Darrel Breaux, Weber Borrell, Jack Domingue, Louis Roth,Sr., Dr. Sammie Cosper, Richard Domingue, Dale Dupuis and Louis Perret.
A Rosary will be recited by his nephew, Theodore B. Domingue on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
