Homer Ray Bennett
OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held for Homer Ray Bennett at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La. Reverend James Craft will conduct the service. Burial will be held in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.
Mr. Bennett, age 80, a resident of Sunset, La., died on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System.
Homer served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War
. He was currently employed with Eaton Oil Tools, Inc. in Broussard, La. Homer will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
Survivors are his wife since 1988, Veronica Marks Bennett, of Sunset, La.; his sons, Randal Bennett and wife, Derra, of Theriot, La.; Ernest Bennett and wife, Donna, of Houma, La.; Thomas Bennett and wife, Lisa, of Batson, Texas; his daughters, DeeAnna Bennett Beaver and husband, Elvin, of Theriot, La.; Yvette Bennett of Sunset, La.; his step-children, Kerry Fontenot, Jr. of Sunset, La. and Bridget Dupre, of Tampa, Florida; his sisters, Oma Dee Wood of Cleveland, Texas; Lottie Bennett of Texas and Loraine Byrd of Texas. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Lillie Rollings Bennett; his brothers, Raymond Bennett, Henry Bennett and his sisters, Mae Adams, Thelma Coffee and Katie Larabel.
Visitation will begin at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, February 16, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
