Mr. Ardoin was born in Ville Platte to Merrick and Marie Ardoin on September 15, 1937. He was married to the former, Wyvonne "Wy" Fontenot, his high school sweetheart for fifty-six years having been a resident of Lafayette for forty-eight years. She and his children and grandchildren were the love of his life, he was so proud of them all and loved them deeply. Mr. Ardoin was a parishioner and founding member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette. He was in sales until his retirement and was a volunteer at the Lafayette Tourist Center and with Hospice of Acadiana. Russell was a people person and never met a stranger and was very proud of his Cajun heritage. He loved sports and coached T-Ball in earlier years and was a high school football official for forty-two years. He played tennis for many years and made "forever" friends in football and tennis. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of our husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.
