J. Walter LeBlanc, Sr.

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for J. Walter LeBlanc, Sr., age 75, who died unexpectedly on Friday evening, March 21, 2014 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the services. Lectors will be his oldest grandchild, Madeline LeBlanc, and Jeannine Lanoux. Giftbearers will be Arlene Choate and Tamara Broussard.

Karen Broussard, accompanied on the organ by Tom Niel, will sing "On Eagle's Wings", "Psalm 23", "Pie Jesu", "Panis Angelicus" and "Be Not Afraid".

Survivors include one son, John W. LeBlanc, Jr. and his wife, Lisa; two grandchildren, Madeline and Luke LeBlanc; and two sisters, Juanita LeBlanc and Cle Anne Burke. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elena Kirby LeBlanc, in June of 2013; twin grandchildren, Jack Michael LeBlanc and Gavin Michael LeBlanc; his parents, Obey and Laura LeBlanc; and one sister, Jeannette Broussard.

Walter was a barber for forty-eight years and part owner of Ike's Barber Shop in Lafayette for many years. A member of St. John's Cathedral, he was an Usher and a member of The Holy Goats. He was in the Louisiana National Guard.

Walter had a love for gardening and woodworking and owned a yard service for many years.

Pallbearers will be John Maurice Domingue, Martin Domingue, Tim Broussard, Carey Halle, Carrol LeBlanc and Blaine Broussard.

A Rosary will be prayed by Brady LeBlanc on Tuesday at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Wednesday at 8:00 AM until of the services.

The LeBlanc Family asks that memorial contributions be sent to the Cathedral Campaign Fund, 515 Cathedral Street, Lafayette, LA 70501.
