Juanita Brasseux Rivette

CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Juanita Brasseux Rivette, age 83, who passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 10:13 a.m. at her residence in Carencro.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Ron Moreau, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, Sheppard Me O Lord, On Eagle's Wings and How Great Thou Art.

Mrs. Rivette was a native and resident of New Orleans for thirty nine years and currently a resident of Carencro since 1969. She was a parishioner of St. John Berchman Catholic Church and St. Peter Catholic Church where she was a member of the Bonne Mort Society and the K.C. Ladies Auxiliary #6958 Carencro. Mrs. Rivette was a seamstress all of her life. She mostly made Mardi Gras costumes and quilting for the Krewe of Karencro Mardi Gras Association. She was a member of the Acadienne Quilters of Lafayette, Quilters Without Guilt, Wandering Cajuns and C'est La Vie Camping Club.

Survivors include one son, L. Mark Rivette of Carencro; three daughters, Anita Miller and her husband, Larry, of Baton Rouge and Marcelle Meche and her husband, F. Gale, and Michelle Capdepon and her husband, Randy, all of Carencro; one brother, Raymond M. Brasseaux and his wife, Elaine, of Carencro; two nephews, David Brasseaux of Lafayette and John Brasseaux of Washington, DC; six grandchildren, Ainsley Miller Cohn and her husband, Matt, of Baton Rouge, Erin Meche Breaux and her husband, Brett, of Carencro, Gabriel Miller and his wife, Amy, of Baton Rouge, Nicholas Meche and his wife, Jennifer, of Carencro, Casie C. Mamer and her husband, Josh, of Carencro and Justin Capdepon of Carencro; and nine great grandchildren, Grant Cohn, Everett Cohn, Cassidy Blachard, Carter Breaux, Cooper Breaux, Vance Meche, Spencer Meche, Raife Mamer and Sadie Mamer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Paul Rivette; and her parents, Marcel Brasseux and the former Bessie Brassette.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Thursday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.

Pallbearers will be Mark Rivette, Gabe Miller, Nick Meche, Justin Capdepon, David Brasseaux and John Brasseaux.
